Thanks Gillian for your help with my bocksten patterns. I sewed three tunics last night, which is quite a feat for me. Include 30 minutes learning how to re-thread my surger and it was most of the evening. Though I did get a coat of red on my shield.

Tonight it’s weapons and some armor repair.

I used a hammer and chisel to split rattan for a handle, running the length of the back of the shield. Tonight I’ll spray glue some canvas on for painting later in the week. I’m thinking a typical Norse war-style this year, though I haven’t picked the pattern yet.

Our pavilion was set up and I was living in it, but it was in the wrong place. In the wrong camp, though I’m not sure which camp it might have even been. You would show up some days, razz me about not getting this work done, not moving this tent where it belonged. I realized it was Thursday of the first week and that yet again I’d not been in armour yet. I had stuff to move, projects to do, things to fix.

I have a month, it’s OK. Bed, table, bench or two, poles, stain all matching, cat-food-tin-period chandelier (they say good light-easy), shield (heraldry? no. viking. war.) edge lamellar, new shoulder straps for it. clothing….hrm. fabric. Emer’s too. fabric.

It seems, I have left an ice cream cone in the glove compartment of my car, so I cannot dally here.

Emer and I are heading up to Aethelmearc War Practice tonight, with a few others from Wulfden. Our main purpose is to construct our new, enclosed trailer on site, which we will leave at Coopers forevermore. Our benches, the trees that hold up our sheet wall perimeter, kitchen stuff - all this will stay on site, which makes life a lot easier.

I’m still working on my viking kit, so I’ll be taking my later period stuff to fight in tomorrow.
